Charlottesville, VA, May 16, 2024 – Luna Labs USA, a privately held technology and product company creating high-impact defense, industrial, and healthcare solutions, has appointed Drake Goolsby as Chief Commercialization Officer effective May 16, 2024. Goolsby will lead the company’s strategy to monetize an expansive portfolio of medical device and training products, pharma technologies, protective coatings, and corrosion management systems, as well as bring many more solutions to diverse markets.”

 “Drake fills a significant role in the senior leadership team as we solidify our position as one of the foremost technology developers in the region,” said James Garrett, CEO of Luna Labs. “His breadth of experience across a number of different markets will maximize our efforts to accelerate product growth and create meaningful impact for our customers.”

Goolsby comes to Luna Labs with extensive commercialization experience, most recently with Battelle where he was VP for Commercial Strategy and Business Development. In this role, he led Battelle’s global commercial business to build long term pipeline value and revenue. He also served as Battelle’s Director of Intellectual Property Commercialization focusing on developing high value commercial pathways across Battelle’s portfolio of technology and intellectual property. 

Previously, Goolsby held roles as Director of Operational Transformation at Texas Health Resources, Industry Manager for Contract Manufacturing at PepsiCo – Frito Lay, and Project Engineer at Jacobs.

Goolsby earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from Louisiana Tech University, an MHA in Healthcare Administration from Trinity University, and is a graduate of the Stanford University Executive Program.
